Being a roguelite, the game has a different module for every run, so there’s no real way to expect the next.
In the world of Abyssus, brine is the rare, powerful stuff that comes from great depth in the sea. You come as brinepunk explorers sent to retrieve a gigantic brine spoiling that is hidden somewhere under the ruins of an old civilization. But quickly, the atmosphere changes when weird and corrupted creatures from the underwater kingdom attack.
I made a couple of runs with some friends, and it quickly became clear that going in solo is a terrible idea. The only way you last longer in Abyssus is through teamwork. You can tailor loadouts, skills, suits, and weapon mods that work best. It is not just about shooting; it is about planning your team’s setup so you can survive wave after wave.
The game has 8 different weapons, and each of them has 45 mods to alter how they work. You can enhance it further by adding special powers from ancient gods, powering up your attacks. At every run, you unlock new upgrades, adding choice options for your next attempt. But no matter how strong you get, you will still have to be smart when it comes to movement and positioning. Good aim indeed will help, but boons come when one knows when to fall back and cover his teammates.
