Battlefield 6 is already blowing up. The game opened up its beta to practically everyone on August 7, and really, everyone has felt the thrill in it. I got to try it myself, and honestly, this feels like a game really upping the ante. Peak numbers above 300,000 were reported around Thursday alone, tied solely to early access in the open beta.

If you haven’t gotten to play yet, there’s really no rush because open beta is all going to be available to everyone from 9 to 10 August, and later on from 14 to 17 again. I’m excited to see if the numbers will shoot up even higher. It seems like the hype is pretty warranted. Watching streams alone is fun, and playing them is even better.

Battlefield 6 is already owning it on Twitch. Crazy numbers for the game, which have already pulled in over 850,000 viewers-more than three times what League of Legends gets. Even Call of Duty had difficulty reaching even 750,000 viewers with Modern Warfare 2 in September 2022. Makes one wonder if Battlefield is slowly catching up with or perhaps overtaking Call of Duty.

Battlefield Vs Call Of Duty

These franchises have been rivals to each other for ages now. They have a military setting that is more or less similar, but each offers its unique flavor. Recently, Call of Duty seems to be annoying quite a few people. People keep saying that it isn’t as great as it used to be. Some think that Activision is just catching up with trends like the one for Fortnite, which have weird skins and odd game modes that do not sound military at all, like the new Gundam mode.

Shashank Uchil, design director for Battlefield 6, also joked about this. He said that games like Battlefield should really be grounded based on his angle, that there is no need to put Nicki Minaj in a serious military shooter, which is what Call of Duty has just tried to do with their latest character addition. I have to agree; there is certainly more experience in keeping it real.

Battlefield 6 Launch Hits Big With Over 300,000 Players in Open Beta

Back To The Roots

EA and Dice seem to get it. Battlefield 6 is all about bettering what was already there instead of throwing gimmicks out there. Players are looking for solid gameplay, cool destruction, and proper customization, exactly what they came through with. From what I have seen in the beta, it seems they are listening to fans.

  • Excitement Buzz for Battlefield 6:
  • Return to classic gameplay
  • Classes are back
  • More destruction than ever
  • New mechanics like dragging allies
  • Custom games and Portal mode
  • Realistic skins, no pop stars
  • Solid single-player campaign
  • Classic multiplayer modes
  • Free Battle Royale mode

Then again, even with Battlefield 6 already making some pretty solid impacts, Activision is not worried about losing players from it. Call of Duty is a huge franchise. This is just the beginning, and if this is any indication, I guess the full one dropping on October 10, 2025, could probably turn out to be the greatest Battlefield yet.

I play for about a few hours most days, and honestly, it feels like the series I loved when I first started gaming came back, only better. The maps feel alive, the gunplay is satisfying and just fun without feeling like they’re trying too hard to slap some random pieces of stuff onto something.
