Seriously, this game is massive. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2, continuing the story with Captain Price and Task Force 141 facing their biggest danger yet. Their main villain is war criminal Vladimir Makarov, who is currently spreading chaos throughout the world. The whole campaign is very intense, and sometimes I felt like I was a member of Task Force 141 going from one mission to the next, hardly getting any time to breathe.
Modern Warfare 3 is even more outstanding because, in addition to everything else, it celebrates 20 years of Call of Duty. It brings back a fantastic collection of multiplayer maps, all 16 from the original Modern Warfare 2 release, redeveloped and revamped. Furthermore, this was added to brand new 6v6 maps to keep the juice flowing. Personally, I loved going back to those maps because it reminded me of all those years ago trying to play on them, only now, they feel smoother and much more evenly balanced.
Free-roaming Zombies
For me, the most impressive development was the open world zombies. It is the first time Call of Duty has realized such a big environment in zombies mode. On top of that, instead of just surviving in one area, you start to cover a vast map, completing missions, and then fighting endless waves of the undead. Spent a few hours with the pals, and really, it felt more like survival coupled with exploration. Missions kept us busy, but at the same time, we were always on our toes, as zombies might come from anywhere. As usual, this mode was done by Treyarch, meaning it bears the old-school zombie feel but in a brand new format.
Key Points That Caught My Attention
A direct continuation of the story of Modern Warfare by Captain Price and Task Force 141
Makarov is the leading antagonist-thus making this campaign very intense
The mega-collection of maps for the 20th anniversary celebration of Call of Duty
All 16 launch maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2009) have been rebuilt and improved
Brand new 6v6 multiplayer maps with modern features
Open world zombies with missions, squads, and secrets to uncover
Multiple developers involved, showcasing the variety of content
Campaign, zombies, and multiplayer are all included in one package
I thought, to begin with, that I would play just a few campaign missions, and then finish, but hours later, I ended up bouncing back and forth between campaign and zombies. Most had that action-movie feeling, while Zombies was about surviving with friends. It’s one of those games that always leave you trying something new.
