I recently tried out The Rogue Prince of Persia, and honestly, it feels like a marriage between classic platforming and modern roguelite action. Challenging, sure, but nothing that would make you want to quit. Wall-runs, dodges, and combos might take a while to get, but once you get it, the movement feels nice and fluid. This is where one minute you’re running along walls, and the next minute you’re kicking enemies into traps.
You play as the Prince to stop the Hun invasion, which is aided by dark shamanic forces. The story isn’t a straight line; it keeps blooming with new paths and characters as you progress. I liked that because every run felt a little different, and it kept me hooked.
Experience with gameplay
The biggest hook, in my opinion, is the interleave of combat and platforming. You wall run to reach new paths, jump over traps, or take enemies by surprise from different angles. When there are too many enemies, dodging and quick kicks become life-saving. I failed miserably at first, but slowly, with each iteration, I began getting moves chained down, and that made the game infinitely more enjoyable.
There are also more weapons and trinkets to collect along the way. Some trinkets create fun effects that you can upgrade to create your own builds. It reminded me of those times when experimenting in other roguelite games, but here it was somehow different because of the Persian vibe.
World and Story
What I liked was the portrayal of Persia. Not as a plain backdrop but as a living, colorful set. The characters serve pieces to the story that are slowly put together in your memory across multiple runs. With extra runs, more secrets, and areas open up.

My Outlook
If you like roguelite games that require both timing and strategy, then this one is worth downloading.
