Unravel Two is one of those games where it feels different from the moment of its initiation. Here, you don’t merely play with a character; instead, you actually create your very own Yarny, a tiny character made of yarn, and set off on a quest full of puzzles, teamwork, and a lot of emotion.
When I first got to try the game, I did not expect for me to be swept into it in the way that I was. The introduction covers a cold and lonely atmosphere, while everything else takes on a world slowly morphing before your eyes. Colors, life, and new challenges start showing up around you; playing this with a friend is a much more compelling experience than just solving puzzles with a building of trust, like the Yarnys in their story.

No, Yarny is ever alone. Either play with a friend in local co-op or control two Yarnys yourself if you fancy a solo run. I have done both, and quite frankly, it was more fun in the co-op mode; nevertheless, the single-player puzzles are clever and satisfying.
A world that grows along with you
Levels are set in real Scandinavian landscapes. Sometimes, you are running through forests; other times, you are climbing through more urban areas. The details are amazing, and the world itself seems to wake up as you progress through the levels.
Puzzles that challenge yet make sense
It is not just a simple jump and run game, swinging, climbing, tying knots, and sometimes really thinking hard about how to overcome obstacles. At one point, I got stuck; however, once I cracked it, it felt rewarding instead of annoying.
A very personal story
Not only in the gameplay department does this reflect the emotions of trust and finding light in dark moments. Some representations of monstrosities reflect fear and doubt; however, the game encourages players to push forth with teamwork and hope. This was something I found relatable to my life outside of gaming.

My Experience
For me, Unravel Two felt less like a game and more like an experience. Sitting with a friend and solving puzzles together gave it a personal touch, and even when I played alone, I enjoyed switching between the two Yarnys to handle challenges. The game was never overly challenging, nor was it ever too easy, and that balance kept me entranced from start to finish.
