Blood Storm: Alien Purge was a ride, I can tell you that much. You play Jia Hua, a rookie agent of the Federal Bureau of Anomalies. What should have been a simple mission soon veered off the road into this creepy abandoned factory full of aliens, cyber-zombies, and calves with mutant characteristics.

They got to fight their way through countless enemies and discover a hidden government conspiracy. Not just gung-ho shooting; it takes reflexes, aim, and just the right sense of timing for when to reload. Picture an old-school arcade rail shooter, but with super fresh new 3D graphics, slick and bright.

The main campaign lasts about 40 minutes, with heavy replay value. Each run is faster, harder, and nastier than the previous one. I’ve gone back so many times just to see how much further I could exploit my skills. Stages are all mixed up with types of enemies so that every firefight gets that adrenaline pumping. In the meantime, you learn more about the weirdness behind the creatures, experiments, and the Bureau’s dark side.

This tiny indie game was made with a burning passion by a tiny team. They had no money for advertising, just a lot of love for this genre. It was difficult for them to develop the game, but it was a dream that finally came true. They are receptive to honest feedback, with ratings and reviews being of great help. Just comment or post a clip on gameplay and help them change the genre’s fate.
