METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER is a remake of the legendary METAL GEAR SOLID 3: SNAKE EATER title from 2004. The original title storyline and gameplay style can be kept, but everything is rebuilt with modern graphics and sound. It feels very natural in the jungle, but with today’s technology, it is even more alive and detailed.
Personally, I played the original back in my PlayStation days, and seeing this remake on PC feels unreal. The atmosphere is more intense now. The jungle sounds, the rustle of grass, and the way light hits the trees make you feel in a true jungle.
Back Story
The whole story took place in the period of the Cold War. Naked Snake (later Big Boss) is the chief figure in this drama. In one of his missions, he had to retrieve Sokolov, a scientist from the Soviet Union. But the mission was thwarted when his mentor, the Boss, dumped him and joined Colonel Volgin. In short, Sokolov was taken prisoner, leaving Snake stupidly beaten and broken.
A week later, Snake is again sent over the fence of the Soviet territory, with two clear objectives for this mission. First, bring Sokolov home in one piece; second, fight The Boss, even though she trained him like a son. The mission that now lays down the entire saga of Metal Gear is not, however, simply about war. It is about loyalty, betrayal, and survival.
When I replayed this remake, I felt almost the same tension as years ago, but stronger feelings because graphics and sound made every cutscene hit harder.
What Makes The Remake Worthwhile
Same core, new skin: All original story, characters, and music return but are upgraded for a new generation.
Unreal Engine 5 visuals: The jungle looks breathtaking with every leaf and swamp detail brought to life. You can even see Snake’s expressions, like eye movements and scars.
Improved sound design: 3D audio makes you aware of every rustle, enemy step, or distant animal call. It is a big help for stealth gameplay.

Reason to Play
If you liked the original, the same feeling will be garnered again, just with today’s visual and gameplay quality. This is also a great place for newcomers, as it is actually the beginning of the Big Boss legend. In all honesty, for me, the most powerful moment was facing The Boss.
