Rage of Towers is not a slow tower defense game where turrets are placed waiting to attack; rather, it is fully in action. I gave it a shot on my PC last week, and honestly, it is like a mashup of tower defense and real-time shooting. You still need to defend against endless hordes, but now you can take control, move your units around, and make last-second low-permissive plays to stay alive.
Active maps. Towers do not just shoot, and enemies do not walk in straight lines. They all attack together, fly from above, and sometimes they bring shields. I thought I’d just spam towers and win when I first played, but nope. It kept forcing me to swipe my plan.
I basically like that towers can sometimes be controlled by players themselves. For instance, I jumped into an artillery tower and directed shells straight towards an almost breached huge battle tank unit. Plus, real-time movement of drones and tanks fills up weak points in defense. That actually reminded me of playing an RTS game within a tower defense.
The tower variety is insane. You’ve got machine guns, missiles, Tesla towers, artillery, and even air strike towers. It’s not just putting them randomly. The fun is really around combining them. I slowed down enemies with Tesla shocks and then blasted them with artillery once. Watching that chain reaction was awesome.
The type of enemies kept changing. You initially fight bare troops, tanks, shielded troops, and air strikes. Later on, it gets some adaptive artificial intelligence that literally compels you to rethink your setup. Well, all maps are different with unique terrain and traps scattered across 45 stages. Time your skills right, save up on resources, and prepare to react when the game surprises you.
The Campaign is a series of organized levels that get harder to traverse over time. Purely survival in nature, Endless mode is where I tried to last as long as possible against an onslaught of unceasing waves. I really enjoy Endless mode because the longer you play, the more towers, upgrades, and units unlock, really making the game some fresh action.
For classic tower defense lovers, in addition to a little more control, Rage of Towers is exactly that perfect mix – it’s strategic yet also lets you feel like you’re part of the battle. You may also be interested in: Quartet Free Download for Windows PC
