POSTAL Redux is the high-definition remake of the very first POSTAL game developed by Running With Scissors. The game follows “The POSTAL Dude” on his murderous and twisted journey. Like its predecessor, it is an isometric twin-stick shooter where only chaos is the way forward.

1. Online Co-op
POSTAL was always a single-player experience, but Redux changes that. You’re now able to play with up to four friends online. I tried this with two of my friends, and it was just pure madness. At one point, one of us set half the map on fire while another kept spamming grenades, and I was just trying to survive the chaos. One of those modes where you’ll be laughing as hard as you’re shooting.
2. Online Deathmatch
If you are competitive, there is an online deathmatch mode for up to eight players to do battle in free-for-all matches. It’s quick, brutal, and frantic.
3. Rampage Mode
This is a new mode in POSTAL Redux. The objective is clear: score as highly as possible by keeping kill streaks alive and being creative in the ways you destroy your enemies. I think this mode was even more fun than I had expected since it keeps you trying to get a higher score.
4. Full Campaign: 17 Levels
The campaign has you traverse 17 levels where you fight through various environments like your home, trailer park, ghetto, city streets, a mine, and an air force base. The brand new carnival map was one of my favorites because it served as an odd, colorful juxtaposition to the violence.
5. Extra Add-ons Included
Redux also includes the add-ons from Special Delivery and Super POSTAL. This means, on top of the campaign, you get an extra six levels, raising the total to 23 levels. Some of these take you to new places, such as Tokyo and Osaka, which really makes the game feel grander than its very humble original.
6. Variety of Enemies
The enemy types are not your ordinary shooter AI. You will be battling vigilantes, police officers, SWAT teams, military squads, a marching band, and even angry ostriches. The first time I was chased by ostriches, I had no idea whether to laugh or to panic.
7. Ten Different Weapons
The arsenal is simply mad. Classic guns such as shotguns, revolvers, and rocket launchers join the ranks alongside the more hysterical ones, which include flamethrowers, Molotov cocktails, and napalm launchers. I always enjoyed using the flamethrower because it felt absolutely ridiculous roasting everything in sight.
Why POSTAL Redux Feels Different Today
Although the original POSTAL was infamous for controversy, Redux is a phase in which egregiousness takes a backseat to being a proper shooter with solid gameplay. The twin-stick mechanics feel much tighter now. Shooting Lucy-where, dodging bullets, and switching weapons all feel majorly responsive.
For me, the best part was not contending with all the technical issues of the old version. Back in the day, the graphics were all blocky, and the controls were odd. Today, it is really smooth and easy to enjoy.

My Experience Playing POSTAL Redux
When I first started Redux, I thought it would just be a nicer looking version of the same old game. But after a few hours of playing, it hit me that this was more fun today than it was back in the day. The gameplay is tighter, the sound effects give weight to every shot, and the extra modes add great replayability.
I particularly enjoyed the chaos of doing co-op with friends since it transformed what had been a solitary experience into multiplayer madness. Being a high-score addict, Rampage mode kept sucking me back in.
