Whisper of the House is an exciting and addictive PC game that lets players live in a small town with secrets. Although the game is simple, it provides a thrill if you are into decorating, cleaning up spaces, and slowly uncovering little hidden stories.

It gave a very real feeling of living in a town, though I thought it was just going to be another casual puzzle when I played it the first time. You go into a new house, do up a messy room, build a little shop, and then get items, like furniture, to use to decorate your room. Sometimes, I felt like spending too much time sitting there, contemplating where to put a plant or even a chair.

You play everybody’s helper in town. Dusting old letters or searching for an errant cat is a rewarding task. Then there are all those inviting little details: a teacup left on the bedside, an oddly familiar plant sitting next to the case, and rubber ducks waiting to be pressed. It’s hilarious to hear that old gramophone crank out the tunes when you push its button. Those are just the little details that make this game special.

What I like most is that every activity is always related to the townsfolk’s lives. Sometimes you find the photograph in a hospital room, or perhaps you come across an old workshop that has remained untouched for years. These little clues give out slowly hidden memories, lending a mysterious side to the game while keeping it cozy.

For those who have a knack for organizing and decorating, the game is totally satisfying.

A good combination of casual simulation and discovering a storyline.

A great, soothing atmosphere, perfect for those moments when it just requires a bit of relaxation.

It reminded me of cleaning my own room. For some reason, that brings about the feeling that it is more like a burden at first, but you realize some memory is tied to almost every item in that room. That’s how the game makes you feel.
