When I heard about what happened to Jacob Wayne Wallace from Broussard, Louisiana, it really hit me hard. I didn’t know him personally, but I had seen kids like him at school events. They shine in sports and bring energy to the whole place. Jacob was only 13 and attended Broussard Middle School. He was well known in the community for his wrestling talent and friendly personality.
People in Broussard are feeling this loss like a close family member has passed away. Jacob passed away on November 30, 2025. His family did not share the exact reason for his passing, but his mother posted online that he was in the ICU and fighting for his life. Reading her words made my heart drop, reminding me how quickly life can change for anyone. She mentioned they were in the final hours of his fight and asked everyone to pray for peace and strength. I remember seeing similar posts when someone in my area was very ill, so I understand how helpless a family feels in moments like those.

Jacob was born on September 18, 2012. Many people in Broussard loved him. Students and teachers knew him as a cheerful kid who enjoyed sports. He was in 8th grade and part of the boys’ wrestling team at Broussard Middle School. His wrestling skills were impressive. He even took first place in the Sulphur Jr Strom Wrestling tournament, which made his family very proud. I know how important these wins feel because in my school, when a friend wins something, the excitement lasts for days.
He was not only good at sports but also enjoyed music. He played saxophone in the school band, showing he liked doing different things and had many interests. His friends say he was kind and caring, and those qualities are remembered even more than trophies.
After his passing, many friends and family members shared emotional messages online. One person wrote that their heart is broken and that Jacob was a charming kid. Another expressed hope that the family would find comfort and that Jacob’s spirit would always be with them. When I read these messages, I recalled when my neighbor’s cousin passed away, and how the whole community came together to support the family. The sadness is heavy, but that support really matters in times like these.

Jacob is survived by his parents, Steven and Jessica, and his sister, Stella. They often shared pictures of him, showing how proud they were. He also leaves behind family on both sides, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. His maternal grandfather, Bob Beaumont, and his paternal grandfather, Donald Wallace, had already passed away earlier.
The family has arranged the funeral service for Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1 PM in Martin and Castille’s La Fleur de Lis Chapel in Lafayette. People can also visit the family on Friday, December 12, from 4 PM to 7 PM, and on Saturday, starting from 11 AM until the service begins. I have attended a funeral before, and I know these gatherings help the family feel less alone.
