Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 with 10nm Intel Ice Lake processors Now Available

At Computex back in May, Dell verbalized its new XPS 13 2-in-1, one of the first PCs to be exhibited using Intel’s new 10nm Ice Lake processors. At the time, Dell only said that it’s coming soon, but it now has a release date: August 8.

Possibly more remarkable than the Ice Lake processors is which Ice Lake CPUs Dell chose to use. Traditionally, the company has opted for a Y-series processor in the XPS 13 2-in-1, making serious compromises in performance. Now, it has a full U-series processor, so you’ll get a 15W TDP and four cores (the i3 model is still dual-core).

The new XPS 13 2-in-1 also has a brand-new MagLev keyboard. The MagLev keyboard uses magnets for proper key resistance on a shallow keyboard, and now it should feel better to type on than it did with the XPS 15 2-in-1 last year.

The other big change is that the webcam is now on top of the screen, something that first showed up in this year’s XPS 13. Dell shrunk down the camera so that it could put it on top without compromising on the size of the top bezel.

Your options for the CPU are the Core i3-1005G1 (8MB cache, up to 3.4GHz), the Core i5-1035G1 (6MB cache, up to 3.7GHz), and the Core i7-1065G7 (4MB cache, up to 3.9GHz). It’s worth noting that the ‘G’ number in the SKU represents graphics power, so the i7-1065G7 is the only one with Iris Plus graphics, a significant boost in power over the i5.

You can have it configured with up to 32GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 4K InfinityEdge display. You’ll be able to purchase it tomorrow, on August 8, starting at $999.
