A parent from Fulton, NY, posted online asking for help after her son was hurt during an open skate session. She mentioned that a woman at the ice rink hit her son, and she wants to find out who the woman is. The incident occurred at a local rink where many families and kids typically skate.
Katelyn Rose shared the post in the Pay It Forward Oswego County Facebook group. She included a picture of the woman and asked if anyone recognized her. I saw the photo as well, and honestly, I would feel scared if something like this happened in front of me. I’ve been to rink events a few times, and sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when there are too many people.
Her post received many reactions and comments from the community. Some people advised her to report the incident to the police and to check if the rink had cameras. One commenter mentioned that the police could access video footage if cameras were installed.
Another person told her it wasn’t too late to call the police and that hitting a kid is entirely unacceptable. Many people expressed concern for the boy and hoped he was okay after the incident.
Some users questioned why the police were not called at the time. A few comments suggested that the local police aren’t very helpful. I noticed some humorous yet harsh comments about how people on Facebook act like they are police officers, but only hide behind their screens.
Someone also mentioned they saw a woman who resembled the one in the photo at Price Chopper around the same time, though they weren’t sure. This shows that many people were keeping an eye out after the photo was shared.
A few comments shifted towards blaming the rink itself. Some parents pointed out that the rink doesn’t seem very safe since adults just drop off their kids and leave. Someone asked where the adults in charge were during the incident. I feel this way too because sometimes in public places, it seems like there’s no proper supervision.
Some people were angry and couldn’t understand how an adult could hit a child. Others suggested that the woman appeared drunk in the video that was shared. Some rude comments weren’t constructive.
Still, many others expressed their support. They hoped the parent would find the woman soon and that the boy was okay. One person wished the parent good luck and said the city should do better.
As of now, there’s no confirmation on whether a police report has been filed. No one knows if the woman in the photo has been identified yet, either. Community members are still sharing the picture, hoping someone will recognize her.
