This is about a twenty-six-year-old woman who lived in Florence County in South Carolina and was a food delivery driver, who got arrested after she had spoken with police that she had been involved in an inappropriate incident with a fourteen-year-old boy. Worse of all, her three kids were in the car with her during that incident. I’ve seen strange news before, but this really felt serious and important for public safety.
The woman’s name is Aladrian Shynece Chandler. Police arrested her on Monday and charged her with second-degree criminal sexual misconduct with a minor in Lake City. The same day, December eight, she was taken to the Florence County Detention Center. According to the police report, she admitted to something happening between her and the teen, but said it did not go further than what she told officers. She also said she thought he was older, but in South Carolina, that belief is not a legal defense.
According to the fourteen-year-old, he first met her when she brought him food. The two later exchanged phone numbers on November sixteen and began exchanging messages. But detectives started an investigation into this case two days later, when Chandler accused someone of stealing a gun from her vehicle. She then provided a short statement to cops, saying the boy took the gun after she stopped at a friend’s house and talked about how she had been speaking to the minor. The police, however, did not mention the exact date of the incident.
As of now, Chandler is still in jail. Although the bond hearing was initially set for December eight, detention records indicate that she is being held without bond. A conviction could land you anywhere from 2 to 10 years behind bars. Such news reminds me how important the safety of the young really is and how quickly things can go wrong due to irresponsible adult behavior.
