Many years ago, I was playing Final Fantasy on an old PlayStation and hoping that the main games would return to Nintendo. Until then, Nintendo would only ever get spin-offs and old re releases-crickets. Now that the missing link seems to be getting drilled. Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the Switch 2 launch window after being a PlayStation exclusive. The first switch sold 140 million plus systems worldwide. It left PlayStation eating dust in Japan. With numbers like this, Square Enix had to change course. An insider even mentioned that the audience is too huge to be ignored. Honestly, they’re right.
In putting the major Final Fantasy games and other big RPGs on Switch 2, Square Enix ensures the fans feel left out no more. It shows how much they believe in the new system. According to developers, much praise has been given to the Switch 2’s hardware, stating that Remake Intergrade looks almost similar to the PlayStation version. This kind of thing was impossible for the first Switch since many of the ports had to cut corners.
With major consideration for the future, Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest
The big question: Is this just a beginning? Will we see future mainline games of Final Fantasy releasing on Switch 2 on launch alongside the PlayStation and Xbox? Could Dragon Quest XII be included? How about Kingdom Hearts? For now, nothing is confirmed, but the signs indicate the collaborations are stronger than in the past.
Honestly, being a long-time fan makes this exciting. Growing up, Final Fantasy felt like the one series missing on my Nintendo systems. With Switch 2, I could finally play those big RPGs without owning another console.

Switch 2 might regain the throne of RPGs once again. To me, something massive appears by Square Enix supporting it with Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Dragon Quest, and other major names. The series that has been absent from Nintendo all these years is finally back.
For me, this seems to put the entire issue in a symphonic conclusion. I still remember days of old when I’d sit with one of my handhelds, dreaming that one day I’d be able to play the most modern Final Fantasy on a Nintendo system.
