God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok

I finally got my hands on God of War Ragnarok for PC, and man, this game is something else. If you’ve played the 2018 God of War, you know Kratos and his son, Atreus, have been through a lot. Well, in Ragnarok, they’re back, and this time the stakes are even higher. You’re basically following them as they try to deal with the end of the world (you know, casual stuff), fighting gods and monsters from Norse mythology. Honestly, it’s insane how epic everything feels, from the story to the combat to the graphics.

Story: More Than Just Fighting

The story picks up right where the last game left off. The big deal is this thing called Fimbulwinter, which is a sign that Ragnarok, the Norse apocalypse, is coming. Kratos and Atreus are trying to figure out what they’re supposed to do about it, and it’s super emotional because Atreus is still trying to figure out his destiny, while Kratos is doing his best to protect him. There’s a lot of cool stuff about family, destiny, and, of course, gods trying to kill you.

Atreus is super curious about this prophecy that calls him “Loki,” and Kratos is trying to keep him safe while also dealing with his own past. It’s not just a bunch of battles; the story really hits hard emotionally, which makes it stand out from other action games.

Gameplay: Fight Like a Spartan

Alright, the combat in this game? It’s nuts. You get to use Kratos’ Leviathan Axe, which is like this beastly weapon you can throw and recall (it feels awesome every time). Then, there are the Blades of Chaos, which you can use for some seriously brutal attacks. On top of that, you also have Atreus helping out, and he’s got some cool moves of his own this time around.

You’re fighting everything from monsters to gods, and it feels so satisfying when you pull off those combo attacks or finishers. The game also throws new abilities at you, so it never gets boring. And the enemies? They keep getting tougher, so you gotta stay on your toes.

Graphics: Jaw-Dropping

This game looks absolutely gorgeous, especially on PC. The landscapes are insane, and every realm you visit feels unique. The game runs super smooth too, especially with unlocked framerates and 4K resolution. If you have a good setup with an NVIDIA RTX or AMD graphics card, the game looks even better thanks to stuff like DLSS and FidelityFX. Even the small details, like how the characters look in cutscenes or the lighting in certain areas, just makes it feel so real.

Bonus DLC: Valhalla Awaits

One of the coolest things is that when you buy the game, you also get the God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC without having to pay extra. It adds more stuff to the game, so you can dive deeper into the story and explore more of the world.

System Requirements: Can Your PC Handle It?

This game’s not for the faint of heart, and I’m not just talking about the combat. You’ll need a pretty decent PC to run it at its best. Here’s what you need to know:

System Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
  • Processor: Intel i5-6600k / AMD Ryzen 5 2400G
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended)
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD RX 570 (4 GB)
  • Storage: 70 GB available space

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?

If you’re into action games with a killer story and some of the best combat out there, God of War Ragnarok is definitely worth checking out on PC. It’s not just about mindless fighting; the emotional depth really surprised me, and it keeps you hooked the whole time. Plus, the graphics are on another level. If you’re a fan of the series or just looking for an epic game to dive into, this one’s for you.

Yeah, it picks up right where the last one left off, continuing the story of Kratos and Atreus.

New abilities for both Kratos and Atreus, new enemies, and a more emotional story as they face the apocalypse (Ragnarok).

Do I need a powerful PC to run God of War Ragnarok?

You’ll need a decent PC for the best experience, but it should run on mid-range systems with some settings turned down.
