Love, Elections, and Chocolate is a Japanese romantic visual novel from Sprite studio. When it came out in Japan, it flew, receiving praise for its beautiful artwork, catchy music, and lovable characters.

The story follows two childhood pals: Oojima Yuuki, a chocolate-love-struck daydreamer, and Sumiyoshi Chisato, who strangely hates chocolate. They attend Takafuji Academy, a huge school with more than 5,000 students, and belong to the Culinary Research Club—a place that seems upscale but is largely for snacking with friends.

The vibe shifts when the Student Council election rolls in, putting their relaxed club at risk of being axed by powerhouse candidate Shinonome Satsuki. Their plan? Dive into the race and thwart her win, whatever it takes!

The club’s leader, Yuuki’s childhood pal, is brainy, athletic, and over-the-top. She’s also loudly staked a claim on Yuuki, adding some… spicy twists.

There’s the indefatigable, cheerful girl at Takafuji on aid, balancing school and her two little brothers. Her smile’s just too infectious.

The club’s newest member is a quiet, standoffish type—cat-like—and has a habit of spouting a casual “Meh” when she talks.

Another is a sweet girl who had to repeat a year due to illness. Her sense of humor is quick and dry, but she’s a rock for Chisato.

Shinonome Satsuki, the treasurer and election favorite of the council, is gorgeous and intelligent—with a serious sweet tooth.

The previous club president is a genius inventor, whipping up strange gadgets. Oh, and Yuuki prefers roll cake the most.

The vice president, from a snack-food clan, is sweet and proper-looking, but he has a sneaky side.

Then there’s the brash, shallow girl tied to a fishmonger’s shop. Dub her “monkey,” and she’ll snap—always with her bestie, Ai.

Finally, the club advisor, Satsuki’s big sis, comes off as a rowdy drinker but has a big personality.

It’s a rollercoaster of romance, drama, and heaps of tasty treats—literally.
