This is hard for a family in North Carolina that has really faced a hard time now after a violent incident inside North Forsyth High School took the life of a student known by many as Cameron, the Lil Nut. He was not the only boy badly hurt during the horrifying affair. When I first read about this, it felt pretty heavy inside. I’ve seen fights in a school, most of which end with just yelling. So, something like that is scary.
Again, the prayers of the people go out to Charlita Summers and Bob Summers for facing something that no family should have to go through again. I saw some messages online about how much effort those close to them are putting out to be with them at this time.

This loss carries even more weight since they’d already lost another young member, Shannon Pitts, in February of 2024. He was nineteen. He died on the fifteenth of February. Born in Winston-Salem, having an active life was for him. He attended New Liberty Full Gospel Baptist Church, enjoyed playing basketball, and attended Spraugh Recreation Center and Winston Salem Preparatory Academy with Coach PK. Later graduated from Brittain Academy with all As and got admitted to Louisburg College. Worked too at Frotellia Restaurant. Reading about him reminded me of one of my school friends, who also loved basketball and always talked about college dreams.
Sha nnon had died after the passing of several older family members, one of whom was Rosetta Harrell, Howard Harrell, and Benjamin Pitts Senior. The family was just recovering from all of this when the second tragedy fell.
A fight broke out at North Forsyth High School last Tuesday morning, and police reported it happened somewhere around eleven o’clock and was believed to have been in a school bathroom. Cameron collapsed outside in the hallway and could not make it. The whole incident supposedly started over an argument about a vape pen. When I think about it, it feels so unreal that something this small turns into something this serious.
In an instant, the school was locked down. Many parents and students were scared because nobody really knows what goes on during lockdowns. Later, parents met their children at Joel Coliseum after the school cleared the area.
Police continue to investigate everything that happened and have not provided any more information about the second student, who is critically ill.
Video of the st*bbing at North Forsyth High School at the top of the thread. @TheNCBeat blurred out parts to show respect to family of the deceased student imo. I think the public deserves a level of transparency about what happened. #school #violence https://t.co/WyqMUkthZ9

So people are talking on social media about some blurry video clips from the hallway that supposedly show students gathering near a restroom. The fight begins, after which Cameron falls outside the restroom, and another student is holding a knife. The police have provided no official statement regarding the video.
Many people in the community are freely pouring their hearts onto social media. While a few people in the world are related to the family, many are just classmates who knew Cameron from those small, informal moments in school life. One such post from a friend said she had spoken to him the day before and never thought this would be the last time. It reminded me of times when I just casually said bye to a friend; little did I know that would be the last time before he moved very far away.
Even people who did not know Cameron personally put together messages because the whole thing has shaken even the school and the neighborhood. Clearly, it is something the entire community feels.
This agony must now feel for the Summers family about as impossible to imagine as one young person would have broken the extended family. Having two disappear within a year and a half of each other is something no one should ever have to face. You may also be interested in: Severe Playground Injury Sparks Big Reactions.
