An Overview of Quartet
Quartet is a blend of role-playing games interwoven into a single huge adventure. Although you initially follow interlinked quests like a robbery from a train leading to a government plot, a set of strange cards to show to a girl in another world, and even airships crossing wild frontiers, those tend to connect, leaving eight different heroes standing in the middle of a fight that has been shaping the world for centuries.
It’s the best in letting you start small in the whole game. It doesn’t throw you in with the whole party at once; it gives you four different stories, which you can play in any order, then ultimately merge into one, and, suddenly, you have a squad of eight.
There is actually smoothness and a tactical combat system in the game. You will fight by four while the other four will wait in reserve. Further adding to the best part is that upon a swap of someone into action, they act instantly; thus, there’s no wasted time. While resting, they also charge AP faster, meaning you may bring them back with even stronger attacks. This just made battles feel more active on my part. I was always thinking when to swap in someone new to deal with the damage more.
The fights are turn-based but quick. You can always see who will act next thanks to the queue system on the side of the screen. Every hero has their own abilities, from elemental attacks to physical strikes, and you can keep pressing enemies’ weak points. Since your AP builds up automatically every turn, you don’t really need to save your big moves. The game actually wants you to keep using them and rotating your party to maintain pressure. I found myself enjoying this rhythm since it kept battles from dragging.
Aside from that, exploring the world is another thing that I really love. It’s not just running from town to town. You climb ropes, cross tricky gaps, and search for hidden routes where treasure is waiting. The reward of finding a chest was always there, even more so when you realized you had eight heroes to gear up. The world itself is very much alive and varied, even. You’ll move through steampunk-style cities, some dangerous swamps, frontier lands, and even some secret underground areas. At one point, I even got to play as a hippo character, which honestly surprised me. Such an unusual twist made the cast of heroes feel so fresh and different from the other RPGs I’ve been in.
Another one of those slowly pulling games, but at the end, once everything ties together, it makes it feel like it’s all been worth it. The combat can be integrated well into the exploration part and gives variety to the characters, which are some things that I remember most from this experience.

My Experience Playing
I don’t expect much from my first stint with Quartet. This game always taunts you before you’re sucked into its stranglehold. Usually, the opening stages drag too much, so I’m bored with RPGs. But then, smaller stories caught me off guard and lured me in. It was a smooth execution to switch characters during combat, so I never felt stuck grinding for too long. The structure was very enjoyable but not annoying. I especially relished the propensity for creating big attacks with things like treasure hunting. Testing the world made me go into every corner, which I really love in games. Finding loot while exploring gave me a reason to check every corner of the map, and I always enjoy this in games
If you enjoy story-driven RPGs featuring party-based combat, then Quartet on PC is definitely worth checking out. You may also be interested in: Medicus Free Download for Windows PC
