Recent years have been great for Capcom with Resident Evil. The majority of classics are remade like Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4, and enhanced with modern graphics, improved controls, and more cinematic storytelling. I remember the first time playing the Resident Evil 2 remake. I felt like I was discovering the game once more, even though I knew its story from years ago.

It has sold by the thousands of copies all over the world and earned praises from critics and fans. The remake clearly works for getting back old stories, but fans would like me to experience those tense moments, while freshers get a fresh chance at experiencing them. It looks like the next wave of remakes can even be bigger at this time.

Resident Evil Code Veronica and Zero Remakes Underway

Trusted sources have revealed that Resident Evil Code Veronica and Resident Evil Zero are both in full remake mode. The supposed leaks have been attributed to a couple of those insider sources who have consistently proven that not all reports are accurate. Gaming news outlets, including IGN and VGC, have also cited such news.

News from inside reportedly claims both titles are deep into production, which could see them released in about 2027 or 2028. Officially, nothing has been confirmed by Capcom yet, but they have mentioned that even more remakes are coming along the line.

Resident Evil Zero – A Route that Leads Back to T-Virus Outbreak

The narrative arc of Resident Evil Zero runs just before the opening plane sequence of the game, just called Resident Evil. The story follows Rebecca Chambers from S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team and a convict with a mysterious past, Billy Coen, who together discover how the outbreak of the T-Virus started in the Arklay Mountains.

Back when I played Zero on my Nintendo GameCube in 2002, I marveled at the “partner zapping” mechanic. You could switch instantly between Rebecca and Billy to solve puzzles or deal with enemies. This was also the last major Resident Evil title to use pre-rendered backgrounds before moving to a fully 3D environment.

Resident Evil Code Veronica and Zero Remakes Leak While Resident Evil 9 Requiem Rumors Grow

Resident Evil Code Veronica – A Long-Awaited Fan Favorite for Remake

Code Veronica was a big step forward for the series when released in 2000 for Sega’s Dreamcast. Instead of static backgrounds, this entry employed fully 3D environments. The game featured Claire Redfield after her capture by Umbrella and jailing on a remote island.

Things deteriorate at ground level when an outbreak takes place inside the island, eventually forcing Claire to go all the way to Antarctica in one of the series’ top plot twists. I have always espoused that Code Veronica merits a proper remake, and it’s insane that it hasn’t happened until now. Its fans demanded years of solicitation.

Resident Evil 9 Requiem – Ending the Current Saga

Rumors weren’t just about remakes. The latest news suggests that Resident Evil 9 will be known as Resident Evil Requiem. This is said to complete the saga that started in Resident Evil 7 and continued up to Resident Evil Village.

Capcom was intending to make Resident Evil 9 as an open-world multiplayer game, but then it was altered. That might be the right move for survival horror because people like the series slowing down or feeling tense and story-driven.
