Another massive leak about Resident Evil Requiem just hit this week, and it basically confirms what most fans have been guessing for the last couple of months. Leon S. Kennedy is not just in the game-he is one of the MAIN characters. Some are even saying that he might get more screen time than Grace.
Honestly, I wasn’t surprised hearing that. I think I’ve been playing nearly every Resident Evil series game since I was a kid, and Leon has always held an important place within the franchise. Capcom knows that every time it has been in something, fans just go berserk.
Now this leak explains many things. For instance, why has Capcom not actually showcased any heavy combat footage? Up until now, all the trailers and teasers have been so vague, mostly painting dark, creepy settings and not showcasing gameplay. In fact, it feels that Capcom has been pulling back intentionally, and this could be why.

Anyway, the latest word is that the pre-orders are set to kick off on October 29, 2025, and the release date is now set for February 27, 2026. The general understanding is, once a game goes for pre-order, its core development phase is almost complete, so that any delay is least likely. However, this timeline also suggests that Leon might be revealed in a big way by Capcom very soon.
Rumours say that Leon was hidden away in the last box art. I went back and looked over that teaser image, and uh-oh… There is a silhouette that could totally be him.
Legendary insider comments suggest that Leon is not just making a cameo at all, but rather shares the main story with Grace, whose two storylines are running simultaneously, eventually connecting back into the main plot. It is said that for this reason, Capcom has thus far shown only Grace’s part in the game trailers, keeping secret Leon’s storyline to increase hype.
Grace seems to indicate the slower, creepy survival horror side of the game, while Leon’s part will focus much more on action and shooting. Capcom’s decision to hide him might be a smart way to spark curiosity among the fans and then bomb everyone with the reveal in the end. They are controlling the tension just like in the game itself.
Some fans even caught some very small hints pointing towards Leon already. The short over-the-shoulder shot in the very early trailer looked suspiciously much like that of his. Also, some voice line is debated: some people swear this is Leon’s voice. I just watched it again, and honestly, I think they may be onto something.
Capcom has a history of doing this kind of thing: burying little secrets in their trailers that astonish everyone later. So, if Leon’s been teased in the footage, it sounds completely plausible in Capcom style. According to a few insiders, Leon’s involvement is vital to the project and cannot be discarded.
Now, when is Capcom going to show him to the world? Pre-orders start at the end of October, which itself can be a soft tease. But the main buck will be dropped during the December Game Awards as the big reveal. The last time Capcom used that stage was to show Resident Evil Village in gameplay back in 2020.

So it would make for another great opportunity. A million sets of eyeballs will watch that event, and the reveal of Leon would be ginormous, especially just before the holidays. However, in case of another delay, the January 2026 event will always be there, a long wait that could potentially kill the hype.
I’ll go for the December Game Awards for the big Leon reveal and some serious gameplay. Until then, all this silence is just Capcom’s way of keeping fans guessing. Every unanswered question keeps the conversation alive, which is truly what they want.
That reveal will not only confirm everything we thought, but maybe also change everything we thought for our future expectations from survival horror games. You may also be interested in: Final Fantasy IX Remake Faces Another Delay: What’s Going On?
