Introduction
Shantae finally returns after 20 years of waiting for the previously lost Shantae game! Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution was once supposed to be released on Game Boy Advance, but was never made available then. It’s now completely intact and immediately playable on PC in Build 19450760.
The story is pretty standard: Shantae Risky Boots is back with another mad scheme. This time, she’s going to rotate the whole continent and put the towns right against the coast so that she can raid them more easily. It’s up to Shantae to stop her, and twist: you can literally shift and spin the world to solve puzzles, find hidden paths, and keep Sequin Land safe.
I was a Shantae handheld kid growing up, so holding this unreleased game after two decades felt a little surreal. It’s a bit like an aged time capsule but polished for today.
Overview of Gameplay
A classic Shantae 2D side-scrolling action adventure: hair-whipping, belly dancing, transformations, and one terrific dose of craziness. Risky Revolution adds the multi-tier shifting levels: you don’t just run left and right; you can alter the whole land to create new routes. It’s kinda like playing chess with the map while still fighting monsters.

My Experience
I expected merely a “lost” game, but wow, it is so polished. The land rotation puzzle-solving scheme is really clever and has had me still thinking while I casually potter around the rest of the world. The transformations are nostalgic but feel fresh, especially in use during the puzzle-heavy sections.
Battle Mode was an actual surprise to me. I had to try it out with friends on controllers, and it was just pure chaos. Not super balanced, but hilarious fun.
