I played STEINS;GATE for the first time, and guess what? It had me hooked. The story has you thinking about time, choices, and all the possible consequences of an action. So you follow Rintaro and his friends- just ordinary school students who stumble upon the realization that they can send messages to the past using a modified microwave. What begins as a fun experiment soon turns into a dangerous adventure as they entangle themselves with the mysterious SERN and a strange man named John Titor, who claims to be from the future.
The game is based more on choices. With the phone trigger system, users can either answer or ignore a cellphone call, send or receive emails, and every small decision changes the story. Personally, I spent hours just trying different options just to see how the story could change. It really feels like your actions matter.

Why You Should Play
If you’re into story-based games, especially with twists involved, you should definitely get STEINS;GATE. I’m pretty sure by now I’ve spent hours on hours reading and making choices to get every ending out there. Add time travel, some mystery, and suspense, and it’s hard not to stay engaged. That phone trigger really has brought an immersion I have yet to see in any other visual novels. Every playthrough feels personal since it does come down to your choices steering the story.
