I’ve been diving into SWORD ART ONLINE: Fractured Daydream, and honestly, this game is pretty sick! If you’re a fan of SAO like me, this game will definitely have you hooked. It’s part of the whole SAO universe and even celebrates the 10th anniversary of the series! The story is pretty wild. You get to play in ALfheim Online, but then this new system called Galaxia goes outta control and messes everything up. So characters from all different SAO arcs end up getting thrown together, which is super cool ‘cause you’re teaming up with familiar faces, but also some foes. Like, who thought you’d be working alongside them, right?
The Story Feels Like a New Season
Playing Fractured Daydream legit feels like you’re in a new season of Sword Art Online, but instead of just watching it, you get to be in it! You play as Kirito (duh), and you’ve gotta fix the timeline by teaming up with old friends and enemies. It’s super nostalgic, and having 21 characters from the different SAO arcs all together makes the whole thing even better. It’s like you’re meeting up with old friends, but also dealing with all the crazy stuff going on in this broken dream world.
I’ve played for about five hours now, and I just finished chapter 2. And yeah, it’s already got me hooked! The only downside is that I haven’t unlocked all the characters yet. I’m still waiting to team up with Asuna, Lizbeth, Alice, and some others, but I’m sure they’ll pop up soon. I kinda wish they were available sooner, though.
Gameplay: Multiplayer Action and Sick Combos
The game lets you team up with 20 players total, split into parties of 4, and together you take on these high-difficulty bosses. Just like the SAO series, it’s all about teamwork, so if you mess up the prep, the bosses are gonna wreck you. You gotta plan carefully!
Combat is real-time, which makes it feel super fast and intense. It’s not just about smashing buttons—you can chain skills together and time your attacks to create powerful combos. The customization is also awesome because you can tweak your fighting style, weapons, and abilities to suit how you want to play. The fights are crazy fun, and there’s always something to keep you on your toes.
The World: Glitched But Beautiful
The open-world design is freakin’ gorgeous. The landscapes are super detailed, but they’re also fragmented, like pieces of a dream that are falling apart. It keeps things interesting because zones shift randomly due to glitches in the world. One minute you’re fighting through a peaceful forest, and the next you’re in a place that feels like a nightmare.
Exploring is definitely worth it, too. There are hidden paths and mysteries in each zone, which makes you wanna keep pushing forward to see what else the game is hiding. It really captures the feeling of being inside SAO, and it’s just so awesome to explore these fractured dream-like zones.
Final Thoughts
If you’re into SAO and you’re looking for a game that actually makes you feel like you’re part of the story, Fractured Daydream is for sure worth playing. It’s got everything: familiar characters, fast-paced combat, and a world that’s beautiful but super messed up in a good way. Even though I haven’t unlocked all the characters yet, I’m really enjoying it so far. The only thing that would make it better is if the multiplayer stuff was more accessible earlier in the game.
For any SAO fan, this is definitely a game you don’t wanna miss!
