THE CITADEL is a violent, merciless old-school shooter filled with action, reminiscent of the great 90s games. Fight through 6 Episodes with 30 hardcore levels (and 6 secret ones). Defeat 6 powerful bosses. Control 14 different weapons, each with deadly secondary fire modes. Rock the ground with 3 one-shot special weapons. Keep going until you triumph. Hub zones provide a pause if an episode becomes too much to handle. Purely skill-based: no underhanded hit scanners, only projectiles. Your survival is dependent on your dodging skills. Look out for an enormous variety of enemies—from axe-throwing cultists to kamikaze drones, mecha tanks, and flamethrowing soldiers.
Lighter enemies are kickable and can be stunned. Position yourself well, and you may end up sending them tumbling into pits or lava. Some weapons may be upgraded or replaced with improved versions. Enemies break down into gory pieces or metal shrapnel when defeated—grisly! The Citadel is full of optional features for replayability and added challenge. Turn on leaning through the options menu. Dodging isn’t your sole defense against enemy barrages. Turn on weapon condition in the options—automatic weapons may jam during a fight or wear out over time.
