The Detroit Lions test Mexican Luis Perez
The Mexican quarterback Luis Pérez received a new opportunity to have a test with the Detroit Lions just days after being released by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Perez, who in the current year was already a starter with the Birmingham Iron of the AAF, seeks again a place in the NFL after being in the training camp of Los Angeles Rams in 2018.
In 2019, after the abrupt end of the AAF, the field marshal was claimed by the East team of the National but again came to free agency when the Eagles opted for the veteran Cody Kessler.
The Mexican was under the observation of the Lions, but it is unknown if he reached an agreement with the Michigan team, reported Adam Caplan.
At the AAF, Perez completed 135 of 258 passes for 1,460 yards, with five touchdowns and six interceptions in eight games.
At the university level, Perez played for Texas A & M-Commerce from 2016 to 2017, guiding the Lions to the national championship in their last season. He received the Harlon Hill Trophy in 2017 as the best college player at Division II of the NCAA.
