This is arguably the one game I spent time with: The Riftbreaker. Initially, I mistook it for just another survival base-building game, but as I progressed, I saw depth in it. The idea is pretty crazy: you create a two-way portal back to Earth, which, in turn, means gathering mad amounts of energy and resources. You can’t just get by with a few solar panels and some steel, believe me. There will be a whole network of mining stations, factories, power plants, and even research labs before you can get anywhere.
Defense and Life Indication
The first lesson is that the planet is not friendly. Expansion of bases makes for hostile environments. First, it is a few sporadic incursions, but later comes a tempest of alien creatures. One time, I made this massive power station with almost zero defense, and in minutes, hundreds of enemies tore it down. After that, I made sure to set up walls, barricades, and defense towers before doing anything big. It’s about surviving longer each day.
Galatea 37 Exploration
The whole platform is built on Galatea 37: a planet in the Sycorax of the Milky Way. Honestly, roaming around here is one of the best parts. It is full of life through the different biomes that house weird animals and the sudden change in the weather. There were times when I was just roaming around the map without focusing on the mission just to check what new plants or mineral-rich areas I’d find. Establishing outposts in these areas seems very rewarding, especially when links are established with the rift technology for sending resources to the main base.
DLC Content
The Riftbreaker also has DLCs, introducing different aspects of the twisting gameplay and storyline. These extra DLCs come with additional missions, environments, and challenges to play:
Metal Terror
Into the Dark
Heart of the Swamp
I started with Metal Terror, and if I speak truthfully, it did much to add replayability for me.

The Riftbreaker, for me, is more than just a mere survival application. It’s an arrangement of base construction, tower defense, and exploration that gets me coming back for more. Surviving attack waves over and over, discovering new zones, and slowly building that huge portal back to Earth make every hour worth it. Anyone who enjoys strategy with action should definitely give this one a try. You may also be interested in: Plan B – Terraform Free Download for Windows PC (v1.0)
