Ubisoft appears to have miscalculated. For some time, they had an article on their site about an upcoming Far Cry show; then they quickly yanked it. Naturally, the fans caught it and are currently all having conversations about it. Considering that I’ve played Far Cry since the early years, this upcoming series based on the game has sparked my interest straight away.

From what they shared, the Far Cry TV series will be done with FX. The talent behind it is pretty stacked. Rob McElhenney, the guy from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Mythic Quest, is not only helping create it but will also star in it. Then there is Noah Hawley, best known for Fargo and the Alien series, who will be the showrunner.

That mix alone makes me think the show could be wild. McElhenney brings comedy and chaotic energy, while Hawley knows how to craft dark, layered stories. Far Cry, as a franchise, has always been about over-the-top villains, tough choices, and unpredictable worlds. So combining their talents makes sense.

How Far Cry could work

  • Far Cry games are famous for:
  • Massive open worlds
  • Memorable antagonists such as Vaas and Pagan Min
  • Stories that combine chaos, dark humor, and survival

Honestly, it’s perfect television material. The idea of immersing oneself in a Far Cry world is effervescent for a series, especially because it seems Ubisoft is very serious this time about high quality. Many other foregoing video game shows have had an even more appalling plot quality, thus the tempered optimism.

Ubisoft Accidentally Hints at a Far Cry TV Show

Ubisoft’s Wider Far Cry Vision

It didn’t stop there; there is also a TV show. Two new Far Cry games were actually in the making with Ubisoft:

  • A solo player entry into that of Far Cry
  • A multiplayer extraction-type game

Reports mention both were being aimed for 2026, although that could change. Either way, it’s clear that Ubisoft wants Far Cry to be something more than just another game franchise. They are creating a true universe across TV and gaming.

What We Don’t Yet Know

The leak didn’t include when the show would be on air or which story it would be about. But now that I think of it, FX will doubtless stick to all those other things that were able to make things different about Far Cry-jcrazy bad guys, moral dilemmas, mixed with action and dark humor.

FX is good at bold, quality series, thus such a partnership really makes sense. Beginning with Ubisoft has me thinking they didn’t want to make the errors we’ve seen through weak adaptations from game to TV.

Right now, there are more questions than answers. But within a small leak, already, the thought of an FX Far Cry TV show has stirred hype among fans. If McElhenney and Hawley can pull it off, this might be the adaptation fans have been waiting for.

Having spent too many hours visiting worlds inside Far Cry, I will say that if the villains are right and the crazy survival vibes, this show could be one to watch. You may also be interested in: Switch 2 Is Bringing Cyberpunk 2077 And Street Fighter 6 To Nintendo
