Overview of VOID/BREAKER
Engulfed in a chaotic world, VOID/BREAKER keeps a representation of creepy, omnipresent AI to keep you trapped in an unending loop, unable to escape, no matter how many times you get into fights and die. It feels like the machines are enjoying your failure, but the entire purpose of the game is to show them otherwise and escape.
Speed was the most harsh when I first played it. This is not one of those games with a slow walk and shoot; it is all about running fast, sliding into fights, dodging bullets, and staying very sharp. I kept dying on the very first few runs because I just was too slow, but once you get on the rhythm, it feels so good, really.
Fighting is pure madness; you are always moving and shooting. It just gives a different feeling from normal shooters when agility combines with gunplay. I felt like the environment was against me, too, because as you fight, the very world itself breaks apart. Blast walls, drop entire platforms, or destroy cover that enemies hide behind. Part of your strategy is turning the whole place into rubble, not just random fun.
One of my favorite aspects is the weapon system. You can keep changing mods, mix and match different attachments, and make your style of gun. One run had this setup that made my shots chain lightning; in another, my rifle exploded into flames. The combinations feel endless, and it pushes you to experiment rather than sticking to one gun.
Each run feels different, too. You have choices to make all the time. Do you risk a harder path for better loot, or play it safe and stretch your run longer? Those decision points keep things fresh and fun and will prevent it from ever getting boring. Replaying it was more fun than anything, appearing to stretch my run as far as I could with alternate loadouts.
This is being made by Daniel Stubbington, the guy who, of course, made The Entropy Centre. That one was heavy on puzzles and brainwork, but VOID/BREAKER is all unpacked action with a little roguelite flavor. Pretty impressive for a single-man project in how polished it already feels. Honestly, if you’re into fast shooters with a twist, this game will keep you hooked. You may also be interested in: City of Springs Free Download for Windows PC
