I initially switched the mom to a language I didn’t understand, leaving me clueless about what she was saying. I was gazing at this gin bottle, hearing Mariah Carey’s “Without You.” A gift—despite my explicit no-alcohol request. A pang of useless nostalgia struck me regarding “the good old days” (which were terrible, actually). Changed her to the British mom, and she said, “Are you all right, darling?”—Suddenly, my inner kid felt patched up, and my months-long sober streak stayed intact.
Your Mother is a neat, adorable take on a desktop pet that’s, well, your mom. Though, for now, the content’s a bit light.
